Why Did Fantasy Island's Maggie Q Leave Designated Survivor?

Maggie Q quit the show Designated Survivor once her character Hannah was written off. Maggie narrated the character of a CIA agent.

Maggie is a multitalented actress, model, and activist born on May 22, 1979, in Hawaii, U.S. Her parents are immigrants from Ireland and Vietnam 

The actress is widely known for her character Hannah Wells in the series Designated Survivor, which ran from 2016 to 2019 with 53 episodes. 

The series is all about Action, Drama, Thriller, and mystery, directed by the famous producer-director David Guggenheim. It stars veteran actors Kiefer Sutherland, Adan Canto, and Italia Ricci.

The series has received positive evaluations from its enormous fan base, achieving an IMDB rating of 7.5/10. It is also able to entertain the critics and received the Critics Choice Television Awards in 2016.

In Addition, the series won the Golden Trailer Award in 2017 for Best Voice-Over (TV Spot/Trailer/Teaser for a Series). The fans are waiting for its fourth season, while there is no clue from the production side for the new season.

Why Did Maggie Q Leave Designated Survivor Series?


Maggie Q left Designated Survivor after her character was written off the show following as incident in a brewery. Maggie was seen until in 50 episodes of the series. 

Her character Hannah Wells dies from the poisonous gas produced in the brewery in episode seven of season three. Hence she was not introduced in the final three episodes.

Her character as FBI Special Agent ends because of the flu virus caused by the deadly gas explosion.

Hannah, the character, was reportedly inspecting the science lab as described by Digital Spy. Unfortunately, she was exposed to a deadly chemical, which often affects colors people and knocks them unconscious.

At the same time, the poisonous gas causes Hannah to lose consciousness and fall. The toxic gas explosion brings the lab fire that kills her to spread and consumes her body.

Maggie's Projects After Designated Survivor

Maggie appeared in a few new projects after she left Designated Survivor. She worked on Fantasy Island in 2020. 

According to her IMDB profile, she was featured in several movies and TV series, which include The Argument as Sarah, Death of Me as Christine, The Protégé as Anna Dutton, Fear the Night as Tes, The Family Plan, and Pivoting as Sarah in ten episodes.

In the movie Fantasy Island, Maggie portrays the role of Gwen Olsen, a regretful young woman looking for happiness whose heart was broken in the past because she could not pinpoint the pleasure she desired.
