Former politician Trey Gowdy was born in Greenville, South Carolina, on August 22, 1964. He spent his early life in Spartanburg.
Gowdy delivered newspapers for the local daily and worked at the community market when he was young.
In 1982, he completed his high school at Spartanburg High School. After high school, he completed his bachelor's degree in history from Baylor University.
Gowdy was also a member of Kappa Omega Tau during his undergraduate.
Trey Gowdy is a former politician and prosecutor who served as the U.S. representative for South Carolina's 4th congressional district.
In 2009, Trey Gowdy announced his candidacy for the 2010 U.S. House of Representatives elections in South Carolina against Bob Inglis.
Gowdy received 39 percent of votes with the first rank. Later in a run-off election, he defeated Inglis 70-30 percent.
