Manuel Cordova is best known for being the supportive husband of Michelle Lujan Grisham, the 32nd governor of New Mexico since 2019. They first met through mutual friends and have been together since 2012.

Michelle is an American lawyer, a member of the Democratic Party, who previously served as the U.S. representative for New Mexico's 1st congressional district from 2013 until 2019. Further, she was the state secretary of health from 2004 to 2007.

Moreover, Grisham served as Bernalillo County commissioner from 2010 to 2012. In 2012, the politician got elected to the U.S. House of Representatives after defeating Janice Arnold-Jones. She was selected as the chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus in 2016.

In 2018, Grisham won the Democratic nomination for governor of New Mexico and defeated Republican Steve Pearce on November 6, 2018. She was born on October 24, 1959, the daughter of Llewellyn "Buddy" Lujan and Sonja Lujan in Los Alamos, and grew up in Santa Fe.

She was sworn in on January 1, 2019. In September of the same year, she announced a plan to operate public universities tuition-free in New Mexico for state residents. She was later named a co-chair of the Biden-Harris Transition Team on September 5, 2020.

In November, she ran for United States Secretary of Health and Human Services in the Biden Administration. She was then elected chair of the Democratic Governors Association for 2021 on December 3, 2020, having served as vice chair the previous year.

Manuel Cordova is a small business owner in Albuquerque. He married his long-term partner, Michelle Lujan Grisham, on May 21, 2022, after ten years of togetherness. The Governor of New Mexico affectionately calls her husband "First Manny."

The son of ranchers, Manuel grew up in a rural community south of Albuquerque. He is a businessman who owns an auto repair shop in Santa Fe. He has been with her for around ten years and was at her side during an inaugural Mass held in Santa Fe before her public swearing-in ceremony on January 1, 2019.

The duo initially planned to get married in 2021 but had not set a date, stated a spokesman for Lujan Grisham, Jared Leopold. A spokesman added that Michelle and Manuel had to delay a planned marriage ceremony due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Manuel, alongside the Governor, said in a joint statement how delighted they were to celebrate their wedding in front of family and close ones. Like many New Mexicans, the couple postponed family celebrations during the pandemic. 

Both Cordova, 66, and Lujan Grisham, 62, were previously married and had grown-up children and grandchildren. The love birds also celebrated their marriage in an event for family and close ones in northern New Mexico in late May.

Michelle Lujan Grisham and her long-term partner of 10 years, Manuel Cordova, married on May 21, 2022, with Vice President of the United States Kamala Harris officiating the wedding ceremony. Danny Heck, Washington state Lt. Gov., walked Lujan Grisham down the aisle.

The small private wedding ceremony took place at Harris's residence on the ground of the U.S. Naval Observatory. After tying the marital knot, the couple had also planned to celebrate their marriage at a small event for family and friends in Santa Ge in late May.

Michelle occasionally shares photos of herself and her loving husband on social media. In July 2019, the governor posted an adorable picture of herself with Cordova fishing knee-deep in water. The governor tweeted, "The First Manny probably knows I get a little competitive on the river."

On January 2, 2022, she took to her Instagram to share a loving picture of herself and Cordova on the happy occasion of New Year. She captioned the post, "The First Manny, and I wish you a happy new year." The governor further said that she and her husband are building a more robust and brighter future for all New Mexicans.

Michelle Lujan Grisham has two exceptional children from her late husband, Gregory Grisham. The couple had been married for about twenty-one years before he passed away. The names of her children, daughters, are Taylor Grisham and Erin Grisham.

Both of her daughters are grown-up adults pursuing their careers in their related fields independently. However, further particulars of the governor's children are not available now. Michelle also had a sister, Kimberly Lujan, who was diagnosed with a brain tumor at the age of two. Sadly, her sister passed at the young age of 21. The governor says that her ancestors have been the glad occupants of New Mexico for 12 generations.

Additionally, Michelle is part of the prominent Lujan political family in New Mexico. Many of the members of the family have served in elected and appointed positions in government. She graduated from St. Michael's High School and obtained a Bachelor of Arts in university studies from the University of New Mexico.

While in the university, she was a work-study in the engineering department and was also a member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority. She married her first husband, Gregory, in 1982. She further served as a technical writing intern for the Westinghouse Electric Corporation.

She started her early political career as a director of the New Mexico Aging and Long-Term Services Department under Gary Johnson. Bill Richardson, and Bruce King. In 2004, Richardson named her as New Mexico Secretary of Health, and she served in the post until 2007.

She then got elected to the Bernalillo Country Commission, serving in the position from 2012 until 2012. On January 3, 2013, she was sworn in as a member of Congress. She became one of nine members of Congress in 2016 who took a trip to Baku that was later known to have been secretly funded by the government of Azerbaijan.
