KPRC Courtney Zavala Spends Time With Husband and Family Amid Career Change

Courtney Zavala has left KPRC after spending five years at Houston Life. Zavala had her last broadcast on 17 January 2023.

Zavala is an Emmy-nominated journalist and news anchor. She studied journalism at Saint Xavier University in Chicago, USA, and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in 1994. 

She was the one who covered the story of the Utah State Legislative from 2000 to 2002. She was also the anchor for the Olympic Winter games in 2002. 

Before joining KPRC, Courtney had worked in various news stations, including the KSTU Fox 13, where she was a substitute anchor and reporter.

She is very active on her social media platforms and uses her accounts to share her personal opinions with her followers. 

Why Did Courtney Zavala Leave KPRC?


Courtney Zavala left Houston Life to spend more time with her family and focus on her personal life. The anchor has two sons.

The reporter had already retired from anchoring before but returned to the station on October 11, 2017, and was with the team until her departure.

Her departure was a sudden decision just days before her announcement. She had talked about her plans with the station. 

In his blog, Mike has posted a goodbye statement from her co-host Derrick Shore who states that even though Courtney has left the show, she still has love and respect for all the viewers.

Courtney Will Spend More Time With Her Family

Courtney Zavala husband Orlando Zavala have been married for 21 years since 6 October 2001.

Zavala loves spending time with her husband and family. She resides with them in Houston, Texas. In her interview with Click2Houston, she stated, "For all my professional accomplishments, nothing makes me prouder than being a mom to my two beautiful boys."

She loves sharing pictures with her family on Instagram and recently posted a video compilation of all the lovely moments she spent in 2021 with them. 

Her sons are involved in sports, and she loves supporting them. Zavala admits that her life changed when she started doing Crossfit and is now obsessed with pushing her body to train every day. 

Her husband Orlando has a private Instagram, and the couple likes to keep their life confidential apart from some glimpses she shows on her Instagram profile. 

On October 6, 2022, she posted a clip on her Instagram thanking her husband for being a part of her life with pictures from her wedding and other precious moments spent with her partner.
