According to the director, Taylor Sheridan made the sequel based on the real story of how indigenous people and their children are forceful, taught the western culture, and involved in the security forces to serve their land and protect it from enemies.

He presented the story of Teonna and how her surname was titled Rainwater after her schooling in church boarding school.

1923, the second sequel of Yellowstone, talks about the true story of the American Indian Boarding School, which stole the children of native Indian Americans who had the traditional Indian way of life.

Teonna was one of the young children who was forcibly taken from her family at the boarding school under the direction of Father Renaud and Sister Mary, who brainwashed Teonna by telling her that her Indian culture and way of life were inferior to those of the West.

The church school forcibly changed the young student's name to coincide with the church name. Teonna, who adopted Rainwater's surname and became Thomas' ancestor, was also threatened.

She was an American Indian native but had no ancestry in the Rainwater family. However, like others with ties to the Rainwater family, she was later sent to protect Yellowstone's territory.

The director Sheridan provides an overall view of American boarding schools and how the white authorities dominated the Red Indians born on American territory.
