He is the 46th Governor of Arkansas and a politician. From 1982 to 1985, he served as the U.S. attorney for the Fort Smith-based Western District of Arkansas.

Asa Hutchinson was born in Bentonville, Arkansas. His parents are John Malcolm Hutchinson Sr. and Coral Virginia Hutchinson.

Asa grew up on a small farm in Gravette. from 1977 to 1978; he worked as a city attorney in Bentonville.

Hutchinson earned his bachelor's in accounting from Bob Jones University in 1972. After his bachelors in 1975, he got a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Arkansas School of Law.

Hutchinson failed to modify the civil asset forfeiture reform bill, which sought to control police abuse of its power. His amendment empowered the police to continue profiting from drug money.

In the 2006 Arkansas gubernatorial election, he announced his candidacy for governor. He won the primary election after the death of Rockefeller.

Hutchinson lost to the Democratic nominee in the general election. In 2014, His party nominated him for governor of Arkansas.
