Who Is Astrid Menks? Warren Buffett's Wife, Family And Children

Astrid Menks was born in 1946 in Latvia. Menks, her parents, and his five siblings immigrated to the United States.

The Menks lived with their sponsors on a farm in Verdell, Nebraska. The property lacked running water or electricity, and his family later moved to Omaha.

Shortly after, her mother was diagnosed with breast Cancer, and her two younger brothers were placed in the Emmanuel Deaconess Institute.

Her Father worked as a groundskeeper at an orphanage. After his mother passed away, Menks was placed in foster care.

Monks later enrolled at the University of Nebraska but had to drop out due to financial difficulties. 

For a time, Menks worked as a buyer and manager of a women's clothing store for Mutual of Omaha.

She eventually worked in restaurants and lived in a small downtown apartment near the Old Market, one of the city's most historic neighborhoods.

Buffett's first wife, Susan Buffett, was diagnosed with oral Cancer in October 2003 and subsequently underwent surgery.

Susan was well enough to attend Berkshire Hathaway's annual shareholder meeting, but unfortunately, she died at 72 of a cerebral hemorrhage that summer.

Although Buffett had no intention of remarrying, at the time, he decided to marry Astrid Menks.

He married Menks on his first wife's 70th birthday, two years after the death of his first wife, at a private civil ceremony at the home of Susie Buffett Jr. 

He and Menks held a simple ceremony. Buffett wanted to keep his wedding small to honor his ex-wife's memory.

Their officiant, Patricia Lamberti, presided over their brief 15-minute wedding. In their marriage, only two witnesses were present Buffett's daughter and Menks' sister.

Afterward, they had dinner at Bonefish Grill next door to Boursims. The couple then flew to San Francisco, where they celebrated their wedding with family and friends and cut a white wedding cake.

Astrid Menksand Warren Buffett has no children of her own but has three stepchildren from Buffett's marriage to Susie Buffett. 

Buffett's children and Menks reportedly have a good relationship.

Their eldest is Susan Ellis Buffett, who devotes much of her public life to philanthropy for several nonprofit organizations.

Susan Ellis has done most of her philanthropic work as chairman of the Buffett Foundation.

The Omaha-based organization helps and serves public services like public human services, education,  and social justice grants to improve the lives of low-income family peoples.

She also serves on the boards of Girls, Inc., The Buffett Early Childhood Institute, and the Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation.

Buffett's middle child is businessman, former politician, philanthropist, photographer, farmer, and environmentalist Howard Graham Buffett.

He has been Buffett Farms' chairman and Berkshire Hathaway, Inc's director since 1992.

He was appointed director of The Coca-Cola Company on December 9, 2010. Also, he worked as a director from 1993 to 2004 in a reputed Company.

Peter Andrew Buffett, the youngest son of billionaires Buffett and Menks, is a musician, composer, author, and philanthropist. 

He is co-chairman of the Novo Foundation, which works to change the global culture from dominance and exploitation to equality and partnership.

Warren Buffett was born on 1930 August 30, in Omaha, Nebraska. He is 92 years old.

Buffett is the second of three children and the only son of his parents.

He started his study at Rose Hill Elementary School. Warren finished elementary school and attended Alice Deal Junior High School.
After that, he graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1947.

His senior yearbook reads: "Likes math; future stockbroker." After finishing high school and succeeding with his side's entrepreneurial and investment ventures.

Buffett wanted to drop out of college and go into business, but his Father disapproved. Warren went to the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in 1947.

He preferred to concentrate on his business venture, but his Father pressured him to enroll. 

After that, Buffett transferred to the University of Nebraska at nineteen and completed his Bachelor's degree in Bachelor of Science Business Administration. 

After rejection from Harvard Business School, Buffett was admitted to Columbia Business School at Columbia University after learning that Benjamin Graham taught there. 

He graduated from Columbia in 1951 with a Master of Science in Economics. Buffett attends the New York Institute of Finance After completing his graduation.

Warren Buffett was the son of his mother, Leila Buffett, and his father, Howard Buffett.

In 1942, Buffett's father, Howard, was elected to four terms in the United States Congress then the Warren family moved to Washington, D.C.

Warren has two siblings, Doris Buffett and Roberta Buffett.

Doris Buffett is the older sister of Warren Buffett and Roberta Buffett. She is the founder of 'The Sunshine Lady Foundation.' 

It is said that since its establishment, the foundation has awarded more than $100 million in grants.

Roberta Buffett is Warren Buffett's younger sister and was Buffett's first wife Susan's roommate at Northwestern University.
