Tom Benson was born on 1927 July 12, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to his parent Thomas Benson, Sr., and Carmen Benson.

And mother used to look after the house and family. He used to work at Cathey Chevrolet in New Orleans as a car salesman.

Tom studied in St. Aloysius in 1944. He graduated from Loyola University New Orleans in 1948 with an accounting degree.

Tom Benson used to serve in U.S. Navy. He moved to San Antonio to try and revive a poorly performing dealership in 1956.

At that time, he was given 25% interest in the dealership for his effort. After that, he became the owner of Tom Benson Chevrolet in 1962.

Tom also owned several automobiles dealership in the Greater New Orleans and San Antonio area.

He also owned several small Southern banks and formed Benson Financial. Later he sold it to Norwest Corporation in 1996.

In 1985 tom purchased the saint from John Mecom. In 2012, a dealership for the New Orleans Pelicans of the National Basketball Association (NBA) was owned by him.

Tom Benson and his first wife adopted three children, Robert Carter Benson, Renee Benson, and Jeanne Marie Benson.

There is no further information about their children. But, Renee Benson came to the limelight because of the lawsuit.

Renee Benson has two children who worked for Tom. Renee's daughter Rita LeBlanc was the owner of Saints.

Tom fired Rita, her mother Renee, and she bothered Ryan. Tom also wrote them out of his will.

They sued him, claiming he was incompetent and to control his companies.

Tom's other two children, Robert and Jeanne, passed away. Renee is his only living daughter.
