The early life of Mava was tough, and she struggled when she lived in her native country, Iran. She has resided in New Zealand for 30 years.

Her escape from her country Iran wasn't easy, as she had to survive gunshots, speeding trucks, and sleepless nights in the desert.

She left Iran when she was 19 and became a Bahá'í (Religion) woman. She wasn't able to get a higher education. She has completed her high school education.

Mava was desperate to go to University, but when students enrolled and had to fill up the form about their religion, Bahá'í, it was rejected immediately, which is still happening.

Even her school teachers were biased about her religion. Her teachers used to punish her without any reason, and her academic marks used to get deducted as well. 

She couldn't get any job after high school completion because of her religion, and no one would hire her, which was very sad and frustrating for her.

Moeyyed and her parents wouldn't even get passports. It was like she was imprisoned in her own country.

She survived the journey and came to New Zealand as a refugee, where she was given the right opportunity, socially or economically, which also enriched New Zealand.
