Even her school teachers were biased about her religion. Her teachers used to punish her without any reason, and her academic marks used to get deducted as well. 

She couldn't get any job after high school completion because of her religion, and no one would hire her, which was very sad and frustrating for her.

Moeyyed and her parents wouldn't even get passports. It was like she was imprisoned in her own country.

She survived the journey and came to New Zealand as a refugee, where she was given the right opportunity, socially or economically, which also enriched New Zealand.

Mava often says that she has a strong sense of social justice, which is essential to her.

Her parents inspired her passion for journalism because they were forced to leave their native Iran because of their religion.

Mava Moayyed previously worked for Rdio New Zealand as a journalist, writing features and short documentaries.

Fortunately, when the opportunity arose to get back to reporting on the Show called Sunday, she was nervous about the transition.

Mava said that it's a different thing pulling a story together than being on camera telling that story.

After talking with her family, friends, and colleagues, she trusted that she was the right person for the job. She was more relaxed because she knew the team and how it worked on the Show.

She already knew how to put together a Sunday story, but she had to learn to transform it into a voice, and fortunately, she got more help, which was good for her career.

Including some investigative pieces she has been researching for the past few years. She is already working on the upcoming season.
