Zazie Beetz Has Multicultural Roots From Her Parents Who Raised Her To Embrace Her Identity

Zazie Beetz parents Thomas and Michelle Beetz have been the only constant in her busuy life. She often flaunts them on her social media.

She was named Zazie by her father, who saw the movie Zazie Dans le Métro. He liked the name, and that's what he called his daughter. 

Beetz was born in Berlin, Germany, and was later moved to New York, United States, where she was raised. She has a younger brother, Justin as well. They are now divorced, but she is close to them and loves them very much. 

She mentioned that she struggled with her cultural/racial identity when she was younger. Her father is German, and her mother is African-American, so adjusting to a group of people was hard.

In an interview with GMA news, Zazie mentioned that they have always been there for her, even though she can't always describe it adequately.

Her family kept her grounded, along with her boyfriend, David Rysdahi, and her close friends.

She mentioned that those relationships are significant to her, and she is protective of them because they have helped her in many ways.

Zazie is very close with her father to the point she calls him her buddy. Zazie lovingly calls her dad papa as well.

Her father is a cabinet maker who moved to America in the 1990s after the fall of the Berlin Wall. Zazie was born a year after he immigrated to the US.

According to Zazie, her father does not care much about her acting career and fame. He is reserved but always remains there for his daughter when she needs him. 

He is very proud of her and is always supportive. In July of 2021, she posted pictures of how wonderful he was and how he was unlike anyone she'd ever met.

She sometimes lovingly calls him Tom too. In addition to her father, Zazie is a loving granddaughter to her German Grandparents.

Michelle Beetz is a very supportive and wonderful mother to her daughter Zazie.

Michelle is an African-American social worker. She had Zazie on June 1, 1991.

She separated from her then-husband, Thomas, when Zazie was very young. However, Michelle was still there for her when she needed her.

The two seem to hang out often, and Michelle even posts pictures of her having fun with her mother and grandfather.

Beetz is the spitting image of her mother. She posted a picture of her mother when she was in high school.

She captioned the picture, "Mama in high school. She is a beauty!".
