Ann Lamont was born in  Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin; her parents are Betsy Ann and Carroll B. Huntress, Jr.

Ann completed her bachelor's degree in political science from Stanford University in 1979. Lamont Oak is a founder and managing partner at HC/FT.

In 2006, The New York Times described her as "one of the most successful women in the elite venture capital field." Also, in 2007, she reached number 50 on Forbes' Midas list.

She was the first recipient of the National Venture Capital Association's Award for Excellence in Healthcare Innovation.

Lamont became editor of the Black River Tribune, In 1977, a small weekly newspaper in Ludlow, Vermont. 

After graduating from Yale, Lamont joined the cable television industry, where he works managing startup operations for Cablevision in Fairfield County, Connecticut. 

In 1984, he founded Campus Television, a Company that provides cable and satellite services to college campuses across the country.

 Lamont later chaired Lamont Digital Systems, a telecommunications firm that invests in new media startups. 

He was first elected as a selectman in Greenwich, Connecticut, in 1987, where he worked for one term. 

 Lamont declared his Campaign for the U.S. Senate against incumbent Joe Lieberman On March 13, 2006.

 Again Lamont declared his candidacy for the 2010 gubernatorial election On February 16, 2010.

At the state Democratic convention on May 22, former Stamford Mayor Daniel Malloy defeated him by 1,232 votes (68%) to Lamont's 582 (32%).

On January 17, 2018, Lamont declared his candidacy to succeed Malloy, who was not seeking a third term.

In February 2019, Lamont was appointed by former PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi as co-director of the Connecticut Economic Resource Center (CERC).

Also, a public-private partnership with the Department of Economic and Community Development is tasked with revising the state's economic development process.

Lamont was elected as Connecticut's 89th governor on January 9, 2019, after the succeeding Dannel Malloy.
