Is John Kerry Still Married To Teresa Heinz?

John Kerry got married to Teresa Heinz on 26 May 1995. The couple celebrated their 27 anniversary in 2022 and are still together.

Teresa is originally from Portugal and is well-known as a businesswoman and philanthropist. According to IMDb, Mozambique's capital, Lourenço Marques, is where she grew up, presently known as Maputo.

She was popularly referred to as Mozambique's daughter when Kerry was preparing to be the country's president, as per Heavy.

Teresa has always lived a fulfilled life since she was born as the youngest daughter of one of the wealthiest families in the British Colony. She left her birthplace for higher education and attended the University of the Witwatersrand.

When she married Kerry, she had already become a widow of her former husband, John Heinz. She met Heinz when she was a student at the University of Geneva. 

Teresa and John met each other for the first time in the early days of the Earth Day rally in 1990, as per Your Tango. They met again at the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Eventually, they began to date in 1993. 

Even after getting married to Kerry, who belongs to the Democratic party, she decided not to change her supporting party. Until 2002, she remained a Republican and but later switched to Democrat.

Before getting married to Teresa, John was married to Julia Thorne and had two daughters. The couple got separated in 1988.

Kerry and Julia got married to each other in 1970 and spent eighteen years long married life together. But all these years were a struggle for Julia as she felt so lonely in this marriage.

Kerry is a well-reputed politician who is mostly busy with his work. This is why he could not spend much time with his family. 

According to Wikipedia, Julia was already suffering from severe depression before they got separated. She even demanded divorce in the year 1982, and eventually, they legally got divorced on July 25, 1988.

Thorne started getting involved with local environmental groups like Greater Yellowstone Coalition. She got married to an architect named Richard Charlesworth and got shifted to Bozeman, Montana. 

Julia has written a book about depression named Change of Heart, in which she mentioned her loneliness. Inside the book, she stated a line, "After 14 years as a political wife, I associated politics only with anger, fear, and loneliness," which subtly makes us clear about her condition during that time.

By being a politician's wife, she understood the value of politics in her way. Despite Thorne getting divorced from Kerry, she kept her political support for her former husband. She actively supported him while he was in the election for the president's seat in 2004.

John and Teresa do not have a child together. However, they both are parents from their previous relationship.

Kerry has two beautiful daughters, Alexandra Kerry and Venessa Kerry with Julia, and Teresa is the mother of three sons, Henry Johnn IV, Andre, and Christopher, from John Heinz.

Alexandra is a successful and well-known documentary filmmaker born on September 5, 1973. Venessa was born three years after her elder sister on December 31, 1976. She is a physician by profession. 

Teresa's first child Henry John Heinz IV, was born on November 4, 1966. After three years, the couple welcomed their second son Andre Thierstein Heinz on December 9, 1969. The youngest son in the family, Christopher Drake Heinz, was born on March 20, 1973.
