Mohamed El-Erian Early Career And Education
Mohamed Aly El-Erian was born on August 19, 1958, in New City, the most populous city in the U.S.
Abdullah El-Erian and Nadia Shoukry are the parents of El-Erian. Both the parents are Egyptian.
His mother, Naudia Shoukry, is the cousin of Egyptian Politician Ibrahim. After his birth, he moved back to Egypt with his family.
He spent his early childhood and short periods in Europe, where his father, Abdullah, attended meetings of the UN Law Commission.
Again, his family returned to New York, and Abdullah took a position at the United Nations.
El-Arians father was the Egyptian Ambassador to France for two years, and they lived in France from 1971 to 1973.
He attended St John's School, Leatherhead, a boarding school in England, and graduated from Queens College in economics in 1980.
In 1983, El-Erian obtained a master's degree and a doctorate in economics from St Antony's College, Oxford.
He received an honorary doctorate from the American University in Cairo and became an honorary fellow of Queens College, Cambridge.
He has served on the boards of trustees of many educational institutions. Then he became the co-chair of the capital campaign for Cambridge University.
