Sue Holderness Husband Mark Piper Was A Theatre Executive At Theatre Royal

Sue Holderness husband Mark Piper was the Executive Director of Theatre Royal in Windsor. Mark worked in the theatre for 30 years.

Holderness was born in London and studied at the Central School of Speech and Drama after completing her A-levels. She started acting with the Manchester 69 Theatre Company and has performed in various theatre, radio, film, and television productions. 

A significant portion of her career has been dedicated to performing in plays by Alan Ayckbourn, including Relatively Speaking, Time and Time Again, and How the Other Half Loves, which she toured with John Challis. 

Likewise, she played the lead role of Marlene Boyce in the Only Fools and Horses spin-off series, The Green, Green Grass, which aired from 2005 to 2009 and included four seasons and three Christmas specials.

She has appeared in several films, including That’ll Be the Day as Shirley and It Could Happen to You as Christine. She also appeared in Out of Sight as Carmen.

In 2014, she appeared in the BBC One medical drama Casualty as Alice Sweeney, and from 2018 onwards, she appeared as Mrs. Rossi in the sitcom Still Open All Hours.

Sue Holderness and husband Mark Piper have been married for 33 years. Sue and Mark are parents of two children Freddie and Harriet Piper.

Mark was born in January 1949 to his parents, Frederick Piper and Joan Riley. His mother was a director, and his father was an actor.

He started as a stage manager in 1984 at the age of 35. He then received an Arts Council bursary to train as a director before joining the staff at Theatre Royal, Windsor, in 1985.

During his time at the theatre, he was responsible for selecting plays and casting actors, managing the theatre's overall atmosphere, and keeping the staff satisfied. In addition to his executive duties, Piper also directs many of the "home-grown" productions at the theatre.

The theatre, which is the only unsubsidized theatre in the country that produces its plays rather than just hosting tours, is run in partnership with Bill Kenwright and serves as a starting point for several of Kenwright's significant productions, some of which go on tour or end up in the West End. 

Later in his career, he balanced his roles as director and financial manager of the theatre. Still, he especially enjoys working with actors and strives to create a comfortable, convenient, and efficient environment for them to work in.

According to BBC, he believes that actors are the most influential people in the theatre and that love for actors is essential for anyone working in the theatre industry.

Sue And Mark Have Been Life Partners For 33 Years

Sue and Mike have been happily married since 1989. The couple is blessed with two children together.

After Mark retired as executive director of the Theatre Royal in Windsor, he accompanied his wife on cruises to enjoy the experience. In 2009, Sue was hired by P&O as a celebrity guest speaker on their cruises.

The couple loves spending time together, and after her partner’s retirement, they only seem to grow closer. She and her spouse have taken many cruises to Bermuda, the Caribbean, Australia, New Zealand, Samoa, the Middle East, the Far East, and America. 

The pair has two adult children, Harriet and Freddie. Their daughter Harriet works as a yoga instructor and massage therapist on a beach in Ibiza, while Freddie works as the head of the history at a school in West Sussex. 

Freddie is a family man. He and his wife gave Sue her first grandchild, a baby boy named Max, who was born in 2018. Max is four years old now.
