Venture capitalist turned politician Gina Raimondo is happily married to her loving husband, Andrew Kind Moffit. They have been together for over twenty years and have two children.

Raimondo is best known as a politician and venture capitalist. Since 2021, she has been serving as the 40th United States Secretary of Commerce. 

Vice President Kamala Harris swore her in on March 3, 2021, and her tenure ends on January 20, 2025. Secretary Raimondo was the 75th Governor of Rhode Island and the state's first female Governor.

Gov. Gina attended Harvard University and graduated with honors. She also bagged the title of the top economics student in her class. For her doctorate, she attended Oxford University, where she won a Rhodes Scholarship and met her future husband, Andy Moffit.

After graduating from Yale Law School, Gina began her career in venture capital, and in 2000 she became a co-founder of Point Judith Capital, Rhode Island's first venture capital firm.

The State of Rhode Island invested $5 million in one of Raimondo's funds around 2006. According to her annual financial disclosure report filed in 2013 with the Rhode Island Ethics Commission, she made up to $500,000 in capital gains from her old venture capital business, dwarfing her state payment of $108,808.

While Raimondo was governor of Rhode Island, her husband worked for McKinsey & Company.

According to a financial disclosure report, Raimondo submitted in January 2021, Moffit amassed an interest in the firm's Special Situations Fund worth between $1 million and $5 million. The pair offloaded their house in Providence for $1.2 million.

Gina Raimondo's husband Andrew Moffit is an associate with the management consulting company named McKinsey & Company in New York.

When his wife was sworn in as governor of Rhode Island on January 6, 2015, he became the state's first gentleman.

Moffit was welcomed into this world by his parents, Gisela and Thompson C. Moffit, in Mount Pleasant, Michigan. His mother teaches German language and literature at Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, and his father retired as an education professor there.

Andrew went to a public school in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, and obtained his bachelor of arts degree from the University of Michigan. For his master of science degree, he went to Oxford University, where he studied as a Rotary Scholar. Finally, he earned a Juris Doctorate from Yale Law School.

As a member of the firm McKinsey & Company, Andrew looks after its learning leadership team, which is in charge of planning and delivering learning programs and opportunities for more than 10,000 consultants worldwide. 

Before this position, he worked for 13 years as a consultant. Moreover, he developed a course titled Strategic Management for School System Excellence which he teaches to the student at Brown University and Harvard Graduate School of Education.

Moffit formerly worked as an attorney at Davis, Polk & Wardwell in New York City and as a clerk for a federal judge in the Eastern District of New York (Brooklyn). He also worked for Teach For America as an elementary school teacher. He was employed with the teaching course in an inner-city public school in Houston, Texas, from 1991 to 1993.

Likewise, he worked as a Chief People Officer for PathAI, a Massachusetts-based artificial intelligence business sponsored in part by Danhua Capital. He is currently the strategic advisor of the firm. 

Moreover, Andrew wrote a book with his former colleagues Michael Barber and Paul Kihn, titled Deliverology 101: A Field Guide for School System Leaders (2010). The book discusses how school systems could deliver outcomes from strategic transformation projects.

Gina Raimondo And Andrew Moffit Married Life

Gina and Andrew tied their knots in 2001 after meeting each other while attending Oxford University in 1993. She received a master's degree in sociology, while Moffit received a master's degree in comparative social research.

After the marriage, Raimondo decided to keep her last name and has not changed ever since. The pair have always supported each other and have been in a long-term marriage, reaching almost twenty-one years.

Gina is the youngest of three children and grew up in a close-knit Italian-American household. Her retired father, Joseph Raimondo, worked as a chemist in the Bulova Corporation's Providence factory. Her mother, Josephine Raimondo, is on the board of directors at St. Philip's School in Greenville.
