Gretchen Whitmer's husband, Dr. Marc Mallory, is a dentist, entrepreneur, and businessman. He was born and raised in Lansing, Michigan with his father, Dr. Samuel Mallory, and mother, Susan Mallory.

His father was a professional dentist, and Marc used to help out his father at his dental clinic and would see him perform minor dental activities. By watching his father, he started to develop a passion for dentistry at the young age of thirteen years.

Talking about his education, he attended Michigan State University where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in zoology in 1982, and then went on to attend the University of Michigan’s Dental School where he obtained a Doctor of Dental Surgery.

Initially, he started his professional career as a dentist at his father’s facility and later went on to open his own dental clinic in 1986 in Lansing. To date, he has been operating the clinic as a professional dental surgeon.

Born on 14 September 1960, Marc does not have any brothers or sisters and is the only child in his house. Whitmer met Dr. Mallory as her personal dentist and they fell in love and married on July 17, 2011.

Gretchen and Marc together do not have children, but they do have children from their previous marriage. Gretchen was previously married to Gary Shrewsbury, with whom she had two daughters.

Similarly, Marc met his first wife, Felicia Lindell, while attending university, and the pair had three sons. Thus, all together they have five children in total, two daughters named Sherry and Sydney Shrewsbury, and three sons named Alex, Mason, and Winston Mallory

Governor Whitmer presently resides in Lansing with her husband Marc and their two daughters, Sherry and Sydney. Her three stepsons, Alex, Mason, and Winston, are also Michigan residents.

The pair have a strong bond with both of their children. Whitmer was welcomed into this world by her mother, Sherry Whitmer, and her father, Richard Whitmer. Her father is the retired president and chief executive officer of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan.
