Regarding his educational background, Meyer has a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Growing up in a small farming community in rural Nebraska, Lt. Governor graduated with a Master's degree in Public Administration from the University of New Mexico.

According to The Great State of Alaska, his employer Phillips provided him the chance to work in Anchorage. He worked under the supervision of ConocoPhillips/ARCO for 39 years as a Supply Chain Coordinator.

He also graduated from Alaska Pacific University with a master's in business administration.
